When: October 20, 2024
Calling All Lions,
Join Us for the Third Annual Rise to Shine Run & Walk – and receive a commemorative limited-edition Pin!
As president of the Chicago Central Lions Club, I am thrilled to invite all our Lion friends from across Illinois to join our club at The Chicago Lighthouse’s Third Annual Rise to Shine 10K/5K/1M Run & Walk on Sunday, October 20, 2024. This inspiring event, which we proudly co-host, promotes accessibility and inclusion for runners and walkers of all ages and abilities.
The Rise to Shine Run & Walk will take place in the Illinois Medical District (IMD) at 1310 S. Wood Street, just two miles west of Chicago’s Loop. The day will kick off with a pre-race stretch at 7:30 a.m., and the race will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. Participants can register individually or create their own club team online now and choose from the 10K, 5K, or 1-mile distances. All registered participants will receive a Braille finisher medal and a cooling performance t-shirt to commemorate their achievement.
To celebrate our longstanding partnership with The Chicago Lighthouse, all Lions who register will receive a limited-edition commemorative pin. We encourage Lions to show their pride at the race by showcasing this exclusive keepsake on their race shirt and to wear spirit gear – think ears and tails! We also invite members to visit the Lions tent for some pre-race coffee and to capture a group photo together. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to connect with fellow members while supporting a cause that deeply aligns with our values!
After the race, stick around for the Fitness Fest for All, featuring a kids’ race, food, entertainment, fitness challenges, vision and retinal screenings provided by The Lions of Illinois Foundation, and other engaging activities.
We are incredibly grateful to all the Lions who have participated in past races and helped make this event such a success. Your continued support is vital to our mission and makes a difference in the lives of those who benefit from The Chicago Lighthouse’s programs, which build confidence and independence for people who are blind, visually impaired, disabled, and Veterans. A portion of the proceeds from the race will directly support the Seeing is Believing Program in partnership with the Lions of Illinois Foundation.
To register or learn more about the event, including volunteer and sponsorship opportunities, please visit the Rise to Shine Run & Walk 2024 website at www.RiseToShineRace.com
We look forward to seeing you there! Let’s come together as a community to make this year’s Rise to Shine the best one yet!
